College Outreach

Uprise October 28, 2016 from 8:00am – 3:00pm at Clover Park Technical College. Uprise is an Education Summit that gathers Pacific Islander (PI) students and educators together to engage in critical conversations about education, empower each other to the knowledge of our PI heritage, and share resources for success. As college students, this will be a great place to be a resource to younger PI students seeking to attend college, to network with peers and educators invested in your success, share perspectives around creating positive learning environments for PI students. E.E.E. October 28, 2016. Esperanza En Educación (EEE) is a one day conference for Latino high school Seniors with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher, who are interested in attending the University of Washington – Seattle. EEE was created to encourage Latino students to pursue higher education, as well as to give them the opportunity to experience the UW. Participants will meet future classmates, learn about campus programs, interact in admissions and writing workshops and discover the diversity and unity that exists within the UW community. (Note: participation is open to all students regardless of race/ethnic background). Space is limited to 150 students. Acceptance is based on a first-come, first-served basis. S.O.A.R. November 2, 2016. Southeast Asians Overcoming Adversity & Rising (S.O.A.R.) is a one-day conference hosted by the University of Washington Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity’s Recruitment and Outreach Division to encourage students to pursue higher education. Students will get the opportunity to learn about admissions process, work on their application for the UW, meet and interact with UW students and staff, and experience the UW Campus. Urban Preview November 6-7, 2016. Urban Preview is a free event for high school seniors who are from diverse backgrounds, low-income, first-generation, and/or are students of color. This event is an opportunity for students to learn about SPU's admissions process, financial aid, college life, and more! Urban Preview consists of an overnight stay in the residence halls, class visits, student/faculty panels, and other activities both on campus and in the greater Seattle area. Urban Preview's purpose and hope is to get students excited about higher education and the opportunities that await them. Applications are due FRIDAY OCTOBER 21stCLICK HERE for registration information.

E.O.S. November 7, 2016. Essence of Success is a one-day conference for African-American high school seniors who are interested in attending the University of Washington-Seattle. “Essence” was created to encourage African-American students to pursue higher education as well as give them a closer view of the UW through the eyes of academic excellence and diversity enhancement. Participants will meet future classmates, learn about campus programs, and discover the diversity and unity that exists within the UW community. They will participate in writing and application workshops, cultural activities and get a chance to experience life as a future Husky! Everest College Open House November 10, 2016 (downtown Tacoma) from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Learn more about programs, we will also have short presentations and information provided by our Financial Aid and Career Services Departments. Any students who may be interested in a Medical Education College, and a career-training oriented environment, this would be a perfect way to get an idea of what our school has to offer. VIBES
December 2-4, 2016. Visionary Inspiring Black Empowered Students (VIBES) aims to motivate and encourage high school students to seek higher education opportunities. V.I.B.E.S. is a weekend conference for high school students of underrepresented backgrounds, mainly African American students.  At this conference, we will be providing the students with the unique experience of seeing what it is like on a college campus, find out how to get involved in all the school as to offer, both inside and outside academics, and the ability to gain advice from other students of color that are going through the same experiences that they will one day go through. Deadline for Registration is November 14th. January 13-15, 2017. Associated Students of WSU (ASWSU) Movimiento Estudiantil Chicana/o de Aztlan (MEChA) and the CASHE staff have projected to host 200 students at Washington State University for this annual leadership conference. B.O.L.D. February 17, 2017 from 9:00am – 1:30pm. B.O.L.D. (Black Opportunity and Leadership Day) is designed to affirm the African and African American culture and to promote higher education in the community. In this one-day event, students connect with UW Bothell faculty and staff and learn about the admissions process and resources available to advance the number of African and African American students pursuing higher education. P.I.P.E. March 3, 2017 from 9:00am – 1:30pm. P.I.P.E. (Pacific Islanders Pursuing Education) is a one-day conference dedicated to preparing Pacific Islander high school students with the network and foundational resources for pursuing higher education. D.A.L.E. March 10, 2017 from 9:00am – 1:30pm. D.A.L.E. (Día de Avanzando Latinos en Educación) is a conference for first-generation Latino and underrepresented high school students aspiring to enter higher education. R.A.I.N April 12, 2017 from 9:00am – 1:30pm. R.A.I.N. (Reaching American Indian Nations) is dedicated to preparing American Indian, Alaskan Native and First Nations students with the tools needed to access higher education. Students will interact with UW Bothell and Cascadia Community College staff and students, engage with speakers and leaders from the community and engage in cultural and educational workshops.
